Advice to young people

on
  • You really don't have to go to college
    • Supply and demand applies to the labor market also.  So if everyone's going to college, especially to get liberal arts degrees, there's an abundance of supply thus Liberals Arts degrees belong at the dollar store or on overstock.com
    • If anything, look around and find out what society needs.  These are the higher in demand jobs and they'll pay more. Most often these are  blue collar jobs
      • We could fire at least half the white collar people in many fields and productivity would actually improve
  • Don't listen nor believe people about money if they're not self-made millionaires themselves.  (Notice I said 'self made')
    • The people who appear rich are often deep in debt and nobody cares about their BMW
    • Real millionaires will often drive 10 year old used cars that they bought used with cash
    • Most people are horrible with their finances, this includes your high-school teachers, ignore them  
  • Don't drink alcohol
    • Nothing good comes from being intoxicated
    • You'll never have to worry about a DUI
    • You age quicker if you consume alcohol
    • It taste horrible anyway (Admit it)
  • Nobody cares about your car
    • This includes the young ladies.  They might appear to like a guy with a cool car, but that's because they like the money they think his parents have
  • Life well below your means, not "Within your means"
    • There's too many people who earned their way up to earning $100k/yr who now spend $99k/yr a year.  When in reality, if they continued to live like they earned $40k/yr they could have saved that extra $60k/yr and retired much earlier
  • Do lift weights and exercise
    • It's the only way to fight the aging process
    • You can actually get stronger, faster, and more flexible with age
    • Intense workouts will eventually give you sort of 'high' that comes hangover free
    • You'll be more attractive to the opposite sex (Especially when you get older, you'll stand out more)
  • Continue your education, but not formal stupid University
    • The internet is virtually free and has anything you need to continue to gain knowledge
    • Your career and earnings potential will naturally increase if you continue to acquire knowedge throughout your working years
