Bodybuilding

  • Focus on the lift rather than the weight
    • Nobody cares that you can unsafely bench a certain weight
    • The contraction and form is more productive and safe
  • Compound movements are the most productive
    • Squats, Deadlifts, and Bench press will get you bigger
  • Don't forget your calves
    • There's no point of have a great upper body while having scrawny calves
  • Don't forget your shoulders
    • Side delts were always a weak point for me.  Once I focused on deltoid movements I was amazed at how complete I started appearing.  Don't forget to develop those shoulders
  • Don't get fat
    • There's many strong guys out there, but they don't look as healthy as someone who has less bodyfat
    • Best way to lose bodyfat is to eat more protein and cut back on carbs
  • One or two quality sets is more productive than multiple sets of moderate quality
    • Intensity tells the body to grow
    • Controlled negatives increase intensity greatly
    • Slow is safe and controlled
    • Don't be afraid to lesson the weight.  The goal is to build the body, not to enhance the ego
